The Policy Analysis and Administration concentration offers a master's degree (36 credits) and a certificate (21 credits). This concentration provides you with the analytic and technical skills, broad understanding and specialization that will help you succeed in your area of interest. A concentration in Policy Analysis and Administration prepares graduates to devise, analyze and implement policies to respond to today's challenging social and political problems, to work as administrators and policy analysts in public, private and non-profit organizations. Although, the program is flexible, students tend to concentrate in areas of community development, environmental policy, health policy, workforce development, and international relations and foreign aid.
Our students come from Western Pennsylvania and around the world. Some students come to us from Europe, Asia and Africa with international fellowships, while others are returning Peace Corps volunteers. A few students receive Community Development Fellowships which places them in non-profit agencies in the Pittsburgh area. Others work as research and teaching assistants. Still other students are hired for their analytic and technical skills by non-profits in the Pittsburgh area as they initiate innovative programs. Taken together, this year 75 percent of our full-time students received some form of financial assistance for their education in the Policy Center.
Students concentrating in Policy Analysis and Administration have chosen an amazing variety of professions following their education.
* Some students take their Policy Analysis education into business and law with considerable success. Our alumni can be found in companies from banking and insurance to public defenders and healthcare.
* Other graduates have chosen to work in government and non-governmental agencies around the country and around the world. We have alumni working with NASA, local and national political campaigns, and environmental and labor organizations.

The Policy Analysis certificate offers a unique opportunity to gain policy analysis skills within one year of study. The admissions standards and guidelines for the Policy Analysis Certificate Program are the same as those for admission to the Masters Program. Students accepted into the certificate program in Policy Analysis and Administration take courses providing the three essential skills for a successful policy analyst.
